Slack (and slick)

Innovative?

More simple than innovative

Easy to implement?

Easy

Our view

Especially for smaller organisations that use Slack a very simple solution. You can be up-and-running in hours. Of course, you can also use other platforms.

Talmundo

Talmundo

Talmundo is a dedicated onboarding solution, that works smoothly across all devices. Focus is on larger organisations, that want to spend time, effort and money on improving the onboarding process. Talmundo has been around since 2012.

Hyphen
Look and Feel?

Excellent, looks good and easy to use

Innovative?

No real innovations

Easy to implement?

Some effort required ("Matter of weeks")

Our view

Talmundo is a dedicated onboarding solution, with a good client list. They seem to understand onboarding, and do not only focus on a smooth administrative process, but also on the employee experience. It can be tailored to the specific wishes of clients. We like the forms that make adaptation easy. You can also create simple pulse surveys to measure status and perception. Keeping content and workflow up-to-date might be an issue for organisations.

Endouble Refurls

Refurls is part of the broader recruitment suite of EndoubleVia Refurls vacancies can be shared via social media and e-mail. Results are tracked, successful participants can be rewarded.

Hyphen
Look and Feel?

We have not seen Refurl in action yet.

Innovative?

OK, not mind blowing.

Easy to implement?

Some effort required

Our view

Endouble is an established Talent Acquisition platform, enabling data based recruitment. If you are looking for an integrated solution that supports referrals, this might be a good choice. A stand alone solution might be easier to implement. We hear that Endouble can be expensive.

firstbird

Firstbird

Simple referral solution, that can be used in minutes after the app is downloaded. Free (with limited usage)for small teams and startups.

Hyphen
Look and Feel?

Modern look and feel, very user friendly.

Innovative?

Not really.

Easy to implement?

Can be used out of the box.

Our view

Firstbird has a nice logo (a cute yellow bird), and it enables you to start with a referral program immediately. We like the low threshold, the simplicity and the gamification possibilities. We also like the possibility to integrate with Slack. More advanced data analytics might be an issue, and we wonder how usable it is in larger organisations.

Simppler

Simppler

Simppler is innovative referral software. Employees connect their network to Simppler, and the software then searches for suitable candidates in the network.

Hyphen
Look and Feel?

Good.

Innovative?

Connecting directly to employees network is an innovative idea.

Easy to implement?

Easy (on the technical side, it might be more difficult on the organisational side).

Our view

The software looks for suitable candidates in the networks of the employees that have given Simppler access to their network. This might lead to more and better candidates. We wonder how big the threshold for employees is to grant the access, and how the communication to candidates is managed. We would certainly like to hear more from organisations that are using Simppler.

Slack

eFounders simply built a referral tool into Slack. With a simple Slack command, people with access can open the list with open job positions, and refer candidates by just typing the email of the referee (list comes from Workable, in this example.

Slack.

Innovative?

Yes, in a way.

Easy to implement?

Easy.

Our view

We like Slack integration. Many start-ups and scale-ups use Slack, and if they are successful recruitment is their no. 1 HR priority. Slack can be easily used as a referral tool.

Social Seeder

Social Seeder

Social Seeder is not presented as an employee referral program, more a broader marketing tool to create a pool of brand ambassadors, that distribute messages through their network. Of course, these brand ambassadors can distribute vacancies as well.

Hyphen
Look and Feel?

We are not impressed, probably needs an overhaul.

Innovative?

Not really.

Easy to implement?

Some effort required

Our view

Social Seeder seems to be a good tool to manage a pool of (employee) brand ambassadors. It requires a well managed top-down approach, which could fit the more traditional organisations. Nice feature: ability to make the best combination between message and ambassadors. No big names on the client list yet.

Yearn

Yearn

Yearn was founded in 2015. It call itself an “inner crowd recruitment platform”. They help find talent through a curated network of “super connectors”.

Hyphen
Look and Feel?

Nice homepage on the website.

Innovative?

Not visible, maybe under the hood...

Easy to implement?

Easy

Our view

The concept appeals to us: use super connectors to help find suitable candidates. So cut out the recruitment agency - middleman - position.
Volume is important, if there are only a limited number of vacancies, super connectors might not see many vacancies where they can help.
For now Yearn has the most traction within the big (Randstad) cities in the Netherlands.
Big question that remains: how many candidates does a superconnector know? And how sophisticated is the matching software?
According to us: Benefit of the doubt, easy to start, so why not give it a try?

Happy2Refer

Happy2Refer

Stand-alone referral platform, offering the important elements of such a program.

Hyphen
Look and Feel?

Modern, clearly a recent design.

Innovative?

The smart referral algorithm (we hope it works!).

Easy to implement?

Some effort required.

Our view

Launched in 2015, this referral platform is relatively young. It offers most of what you would expect: heavy focus on mobile, using all kind of social platforms. We like the promise of the smart referral algorithm (as we do not like stupid ones…). Happy2Refer still feels very much like a startup (see the video), so if you like to take some risk you might get the benefits of an early customer.

More information

One of the leading traditional survey companies (in The Netherlands). Offers a good platform, good benchmarks and excellent data protection. Consultative approach, easy to tailor surveys to specific needs.

Effectory
Look and Feel?

Simple, easy to use surveys.

Innovative?

More solid and thorough than innovative.

Easy to implement?

Will take considerable time and effort.

Our view

Effectory is a very experienced party. If you are looking for a solid survey, with a solid process, good benchmarks and rich data, working with Effectory seems to be a good choice. If you want more real time feedback, or if you want an interactive, adaptive survey, you will probably prefer another solution.
