Our view

Some time ago there was LinkedIn Maps, that showed you something similar to what Socilab shows you: an overview of your LinkedIn network, how you are connected and how other people in your network are connected. LinkedIn Maps is no longer available, but there is also Socilab, that gives you somewhat the same information and visual. Simply connect your LinkedIn account to Socilab and it creates a visual. Unfortunately the analysis is limited (by LinkedIn) to 500 connections.

The visual overview of your network is nice of course, but even more interesting is what else you can get out of it. One thing is an overview of how you are connected and how other people in your network are connected to each other. Even more interesting is,  that Socilab gives you insight in the industry or regions that are featured in your network. With this information you can quickly find out in what industries or regions you don’t have enough connections. This can of course help you to realise your business (goals).

Also interesting are the metrics Socilabs shows, for example the "Effective size", that puts a number to the value of the connections in your network.

Socilyzer is a social network analysis tool, that can be used for studying collaboration and communication in organisations. It can tell you where in your company the top influencers are, who are the bottlenecks in communication and what groups and teams collaborate often or not often enough.

Our view

Social network analysis can be very useful, if you want to find out how you can improve collaboration between people and teams. Socilyzer is a good example of a tool that can visualise how collaboration works in your organisation and where it can be improved. Are the right people working and talking with each other enough? Are teams working together enough to succeed or working enough with other teams?

The bottleneck perhaps with Socilyzer is that it uses survey questions to get the data needed to visualise the social network of an organisation. Perhaps a survey is not the right tool for this, because it can be manipulated.

Tygraph is a analytics tool that works with Yammer and Sharepoint (Microsoft products). It gives you valuable insight in data directed from those tools. You can for instance see what posts or groups on Yammer have the most influence and get most likes and comments.

Tygraph is a good example of a Business Information (BI) tool that can be used to see analyse how your Yammer platform is being used. It gives you good insight in the active contributors and most active groups and messages. It is fun to see what messages and people have the highest impact on Yammer. The question is what you can do with that information.

Tygraph is completely focussed on Yammer. There are other examples of BI tools for your collaboration software. The problem with this kind of tools is that it, gives you al lot of information, but knowing how to use the information is less straightforward.

Betterworks is another example of a Performance management system that integrates a few functionalities. It starts with your own profile page, where you can set up your goals. This is the centerpiece of the system for the user. Set your goals, align them with company goals and you’re set to go. This is ofcourse ideal for companies working with an OKR principle.

The rest of the system is focussed on managing your goals, feedback and performance reviews. It is an easy to use system, that gives good insight and the overall look and feel is good.

Good for companies looking for an integrated system (from medium sized companies up to larger corporates).

It is really easy use and so also easy to set up your dashboards. It takes minutes to set up. Give your team focus, get everyone on the same page and let Geckoboard help you in reaching business goals.

Don’t expect a (OKR like) tool thats helps you to setup and align goals. Use this tool for better insight, throughout your entire company.

Just add Gtmhub as a tool and it automatically does the goal tracking for you. The insights your other tools gives, can easily be setup as goals within Gtmhub. Lattice is an easy to use platform that integrates a few key-features in performance management into one system. Goal setting being a very centralized focus point. The tool helps you to setup your goals that are aligned with company and management goals.

A dashboard gives you insight on people's progress. And this also makes good input for performance reviews.

If you are focussed on working with OKR and SMART goal setting, then lattice is very helpful tool. Automatisation of the tool is good.

Our view

Trello is a really easy to use task manager to plan and manage your projects and tasks. The great thing is that it is free to use, and so called powerups (extra features and integrations) will cost you money.

You can use it for personal use and for work projects as well. Inviting people to work with you in Trello is very easy, just like the online collaboration.

But the best part of Trello is the overview it gives you in your projects, with the ability to set up different boards with separate tasks or goals within a project. You can easily move these boards to a certain place in you process.

The name of this tool off course already says a lot: A tool to plan and track your weekly progress. That makes it a good tool for companies who are working with weekly reports and regular check-in on business progress. You can easily plan your goals and also report  very easily on your progress last week. The tool also allows others to give feedback. All this together gives good insight on someone's progress and performance.

The quarterly OKR goal-setting functionality allows you to adopt OKR principals easier and gives you a transparent overview on company, team and personal goals.

The good thing about Weekdone is the user friendliness. You are able to quickly add, edit and (re)move items. You can use hashtags and it also give very good reports.

We are not able to judge if there are any good triggers for employees to actually fill out their weekly reports.
